Excited for Auditions on Saturday!

Auditions are Saturday!! Sometimes the word "audition"creates a shot of nervousness through your entire body. Just remember that we want you to succeed. We believe in  you, and we will be nice. We have been in your shoes and know that auditioning is scary and makes you extremely vulnerable. We have had good auditions and bad auditions. If you find that this turns out to be a bad audition, then remember that we still love you, your family still loves you, the world will not end, and you can always try to do better next time. Please don't give up!!

Here are some tips to help you make it a good audition:

1. Be prepared. When nerves hit, it is best to know your song forwards and backwards. Practice, practice, practice. Try singing at different tempos, so you are prepared for any accompanist.

2. Be confident. You are awesome! No matter what part we assign to you, you will always be a star in the eyes of those who matter most! Know that you are wonderful. State your name loudly and clearly, as well as what you are going to sing. Do a power pose before you enter the room. Your brain will get into the success mode.

3. Have fun. Relax. What's the worst that could happen? Don't expect to get the lead because you will probably be disappointed, and you will put too much emotional energy into the audition. We generally do our best when we are relaxed and enjoying ourselves. Have fun with any part. Theatre is fun! Pretending is fun!

4. Breathe deeply. Breathe deeply before, during and after the audition. It helps to calm you and gives your brain plenty of oxygen to remember the moves you are being taught.

Good luck!!
